Tel Aviv!

Shalom!
After 11 grueling hours from NYC to here....we made it! No major problems except I got stuck sitting next to a young girl with terrible B.O. I thought was going to need a gas mask (didn't her mother tell her??) But after about an hour I popped an Ambien...and who cared after that?? Got in at about 3 and was swimming into the Mediterranean by 4:30. The beach and the water are beautiful...warm... breezy...just right. Our room overlooks the Sea....hmmmm. The beach is dotted with little restaurants with tables(with lamps)/chairs/awnings that create the most amazing ambience...so of course had a glass of wine there at about 6...then came back upstair, cleaned up and went back for dinner. Terry was a bit "concerned" when I suggested we don't wear shoes to dinner and only grumbled a bit...Oh, the stones, oooh my feet! ha ha. But the sand the whitest and finest I have ever seen...almost like powder...and so clean. Now the beach and little restaurants were all was aglow...most of the crowds gone and just the perfect place for the sunset and dinner. Had an amazing vegetarian meal...split a salad and sandwich which was made with eggplant, tomatoes, hummus, tahini etc on this amazing home made bread...the salad was fresh mixed greens, some other oddities from the veggie world and topped with fried feta and crispy sweet potatoes. They had a live "world band"....lite reggae...which we could then hear from our room. We were in bed at 10 pm and more than ready for a good night's sleep. Today we are sight seeing in Jaffa, an ancient port city just south of here...then back in time for more swimming and the beach...it is just too alluring to pass up! xoxoxoxo L & T
